JP Morgan may come under pressure soon.

We've been tracking JP for a while. Looking to see if bears can take control of the market. I'm not sure if we've forgotten to post analysis on this or if I just can not find it, but it's another to add to the list of sketchy looking banks. We'll start with a bit of hindsight (Which I try to avoid to the extent it is possible but IDK if we posted this in real time or not) Butterfly pattern: https://preview.redd.it/4aoelwjsss681.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=71c81869fcdd196cb46337ed654de77fe6e25a51 Resources (Look for Butterfly ): Resources Compilation: Harmonic Patterns - HoleyProfit.com 76 retracement: https://preview.redd.it/zvzmd3hbts681.png?width=1919&format=png&auto=webp&s=8b47839c5208b29930e0c67ff80c8979ac838aa1 Resources (See: The public trap ): Typical stages of a market break. : BeatTheBear (reddit.com) (See: 76 Retracements ) Useful things to know in a market break : thetagang (reddit.com) (See: Bear Market R

The parable of the two coins

To understand this story you need to have an approximate understanding of the size of UK coins. So here's a picture. The thing to notice here is the "One pound" coin is of the highest value, but it's smaller than the 50 and 10 pence ones. On with the story. https://preview.redd.it/03i21u6yrr681.png?width=711&format=png&auto=webp&s=ab6deca53e822c5090c6100fa56cf0e4479912c8 So, there's this young kid. He's 9 years old. His name is Alex. There's another group of older kids. We won't name all of them but the ring leader is a guy called Jeff. Jeff and his friends like to tease Alex. They're kinda mean to him. One of the tricks Jeff and his friend like to play on Alex is to offer him a 10p coin or a £1 coin. Alex always picks the big 10p coin - and Jeff and his friends laugh at Alex and make jokes about the dumb kid. One day another older boy (Who is not part of the bullying group) pulls Alex aside. He says; "I don't get it

SPX down in Asia

After breaking the 76 and putting in a small retracement (Shorting opportunity) SPX has broken in the open and is now trading down very close to the 127 fib. This is an example of the propensity for the 76 level to be an inflection point in the near term trend. Read more about this here. https://preview.redd.it/vv33mrbsul681.png?width=1919&format=png&auto=webp&s=af3776067567d901ab887ae644a9d2d36cc6bd1a Next we're looking at the 161 as our big break level. 127 is also a hold/break level but not one I use too much. A bounce from the 127 before a further move lower would not be uncommon and it's another place I'd short into a rally with stops above the previous high. via reddit https://ift.tt/3FcYlQ9

Passive investing: Is it "Too good to be true"?

The narrative of passive investing is anyone can become financially independent, having no knowledge of the markets, making no effort and this has very little risk. Is this notion too good to be true? Granted, it will do well in a bull market. No one disputes blindly betting on a trend will work out if that trend continues. But what if people rush into a trend too late? There are still people sitting with boxes and boxes of "Fidget spinners" thinking that would last forever. But by the the time they knew about the trend, it was close to the end. Back tested through history this is a strategy that has usually worked after there's been a strong down market. The rally of the last 50 yrs coming off a 20 yr flat/bear market. But this idea anyone can make money in stocks is usually one that build up slowly and over a long time - and typically becomes publicly popular during the "Mania" phase at the end of a trend. This idea of easy passive money is a very m

Here's some sections; (I added in any of these bits) In the late 1990s, there was a dramatic run-up in the stock prices of various publicly traded U.S. firms, particularly those specializing in information technology and its applications. A similar run-up occurred in housing prices in the early 2000s. These episodes have often been cited by pundits as examples of “asset price bubbles.” Implicit in this description is the notion that the rapid growth in the prices of the assets in question over such a short period suggests these assets were overvalued and thus at risk of a “correction,” or a sharp fall in price. The slowdown in the growth of housing prices starting in the summer of 2006 has been offered by some as evidence of the beginning of a

I've been most impressed with the doge communities reaction to a bear

During the bear market the mods at the doge community have not blocked people from posting different opinions. They've not blocked people from posting concerns they have. When people post concerns they are not mocked by the community. People are not shamed saying they've exited. There's been no censorship to enforce a bull only narrative These are all things I seen many of the finance related subs fail in during March 2020. They shut down comments and entirely blocked out any discussion of how to protect from averse market conditions. The doge mods have shown themselves to have more integrity, in my eyes. It'll be interesting to see what happens sub wide if the stocks start to slide. via reddit https://ift.tt/3FbDZGO

Why timing is harder than price levels

I get asked a lot about timeframes. Here's a copy/paste of a recent answer. I get timeframes wrong more often than I get them right, so I tend not to give them now while I am working on improving upon the things I notice that throw it off. The issue I have is ranges and retracements. I find it hard to define how long these would be expected to last. Increasing EURUSD short target

Original short target was about 90 pips down where I expected to see a sharp rally. Today we've seen a sharp rally, if we drop again we might go through the level I was first targeting. A breaking of that level could be a big move so expanding target on shorts to 1.10941 EURUSD may be set to make an important break. https://preview.redd.it/y2kok6lots581.png?width=1913&format=png&auto=webp&s=4a87aafd85046fabae9a299d4eb1b0aa48482c8f Caution to the shorts: The rally we had in the SPX today was similar to this setup before it. Let's look at the doge signal

It made me a bit sad, tbh, seeing the doge spike because I like a lot of the doge people and I know it's the moves like this that people tend to lose in - it's not the falls. The rallies get them. OP Doge spikes 25% in 76 fib : BeatTheBear (reddit.com) But from an objective and detached point of view, it gives me the chance to explain so many concepts I've been going on about here. So let's roll through them. 1 - Stop losses. I heart them. Get spammed a lot any time a stop loss hits. I assume by non-traders. But here if I was short on this my stop would hit in the blue and that's good as far as I am concerned. This is why I become much less bearish and even switch to bullish sometimes after the market has dropped too hard and too fast. I'd rather take 10 small stops than one of those. 2 - The 161 spike. One early signal and then the 161 makes the topping swing. This is why you'll invariably see me shorting again into this level once

Would rising interest rates affect your asset allocation?

The biggest and strongest index bull markets have transitioned into the biggest and most brutal bear markets upon the switching of loose to tight monetary policy (See Japan 1989 and US 1929). Would this fact affect your capital allocation in the event of the Fed entering into a less accommodative cycle when it comes to supporting the stock market? via reddit https://ift.tt/3EUIxkX

Lots of people talking about inflation rates being at those of 1982

And extrapolating from this how we should be making bets on pretty much anything that can be fit into a narrative of an inflation hedge. Not many people talking about what happened to inflation and interest rates after 1982. But it would imply a very different kind of bet is suitable ... https://preview.redd.it/g9gli61il6581.png?width=778&format=png&auto=webp&s=051981d547c215a7b6596735661c9b3923de3673 via reddit https://ift.tt/3lUShE3

How much leverage do I use?

Recurring question. Decided to give it a proper answer since short answers can be a bit misleading. How leverage works First, the basics. Leverage is very similar to a loan from the broker. If the broker gives me 1:10 leverage what it means is I need to put up 10% of the cost of the trade, the broker puts up the other 90%. The broker will then set my account to auto close my trades if I lose something like 8% - protecting their share of the trade from the risk of my position. This creates the famous double-edged sword of leverage. If my trade gains in value I can be winning at a rate of 10* faster but if the trade goes against me I can lose all the capital I have to back the trade really quickly. Quick money can be made and margin calls can be hit. When you hear of "Liquidations" "Margin calls", this is the broker protecting their portion of the risk. Leverage on account Where things tend to get a bit confused is when people ask me what I leverage

Why a solid bear market could be long-term beneficial to crypto

One of the things that has been most progressive in tech over the last 30 years was the depression style crash in the Nasdaq starting in 2000 and lasting 10 years. There are a lot of good documentaries on the dotcom bubble. Here's one I thought was particularly interesting since it mentions a lot of the superstar names at the time that no-one has ever heard of now. It gives some insight into how the companies were being run and how unproductively capital allocation to tech start-ups and development of the industry was. The solid crash and then following crush/stagnation in the Nasdaq obliterated this frivolously capital allocation. he attitude of buying the dip faded as the market continued to zigzag down over many years. Speculation in tech dropped substantially. The number of IPOs went down drastically. Over the next 5 - 10 years the good companies would build real profitable models and a fundamentally sound bull market began (Then it all got a bit bubbly again recently, if y

Bitcoin may enter bona fide bear soon

See first BTC bubble update : BeatTheBear (reddit.com) We might be about to enter into the real sustained rug pull. https://preview.redd.it/qnbzigvqzy481.png?width=1269&format=png&auto=webp&s=70a342a8fb3ec293fcbc8b8c6c2776020bc13912 https://preview.redd.it/ebk2q3mxzy481.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=1405963d5cf742e17d5eafa985fb69cfcba20ece I am cautious until I see the "Dead cat" bounce in and there can be a more obvious one ... but we might also have it. As highlighted in the OP, that's usually this little area. Bear stops hit and bulls enter there. I think crash risk in BTC is significantly high again now

If buyers do not come in soon we're probably seeing the early onset of trend failure over the last days and this will become more obviously apparent in the future. Micro account build

An attempt to flip a tiny account into a notable amount of money. This started as just a fun little thing but it never worked trying various ways to do it. Over time it's developed into fairly complex side-bet between a friend and I. Which we've went back and forth on the terms of and now have an "Interesting bet". Terms: Good for me: I can pick my starting day. Picking today. Waited a while. Today feels right. Can pick any broker. I picked a broker that lets me trade SPX at $0.01 per $1 move in the underlying and only charges me an average spread of $0.40 on the underlying. Can trade any asset available on the account (And I've access to FX and CFDs on various things). Good for them: I am not allowed to drawdown over 35% of starting equity. If I compound, I can not drawdown more than 15%. If I do not compound, I need to cash out 25% for each 200% made (Will probably opt for this one). Leverage is capped to 1:50.
